Mary
Bryant
Mary Bryant, Uniya's Director, has over 18 years experience in
the community sector. Before taking up the position, Mary was Lecturer
in the School of Social Work at the Australian Catholic University.
She has also been a lecturer at the University of Western Sydney,
has worked as a community worker in social policy and planning and
has experience in palliative care counselling. Mary’s has
a Bachelor of Social Work (1988), a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education
( 2000) and in her Masters of Management (1993) completed a thesis
titled Women and Superannuation. Mary has a personal interest
in of spirituality and women’s rights.

Dr
Mark Byrne
Mark Byrne is Uniya's Senior Researcher. He has a PhD in Religious
Studies from the University of Sydney and is the author of two books
and numerous reports and articles. His most recent publications
before joining Uniya were Migrant Men and Separation: Choices
in tough times and The Other 50%: Refugee Men's Health. Since
completing his PhD in 1996 he has been a lecturer, group facilitator
and researcher. His current projects at Uniya include work on the
transitional justice process in East Timor and the Indigenous reconciliation
process in Australia, TreatyWatch (a website devoted to Australia's
compliance with its human rights treaty obligations) and empirical
research on the psychosocial impact of climate change.

Veronika
Jeffrey
Veronika Jeffrey, originally from Germany, is our Receptionist
and Administrative Assistant. She has a background in industrial
management and international civil service, serving under the United
Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Before coming to Uniya,
Veronika also worked as a secretary with the Country Women's Association
of NSW.
